Chronic Disease Management
We monitor patients with certain chronic illnesses very closely and offer check-ups and general lifestyle advice where appropriate. Patients with diabetes and respiratory illnesses will be personally invited to make an appointment at the surgery.
At present, we also provide a chronic disease management service for patients with heart disease, hypertension (high blood pressure), previous stroke, hypothyroidism, epilepsy, asthma and certain mental health problems.
Contraception
Repeat Prescriptions for the oral contraceptive pill can be obtained the same way as any other Repeat Prescription. Please note we do not provide free condoms but these can be obtained from any community Family Planning Clinic. Our triage team will direct you to the most appropriate service for your request. We hold in house implant clinics for patients wishing to utilise this form of contraception.
Counselling
The GP will refer you to the Community Counselling Service if required.
Medicals
Insurance medicals, HGV, PSV, taxi driver, elderly driver, sub-aqua medicals, etc. are carried out by appointment only. For these a charge is made in line with the recommended BMA rates and the work is done outside of normal NHS working hours. There is a lead time of approximately 30 days for this work and the surgery will advise if there is a wait in excess of this at the time of the request.
