COVID-19 vaccination updates Posted or Updated on 31 May 2022

People aged 30 and 31 now able to book their appointments

From today, people aged 30 and 31 are able to book their vaccine appointments through the National Booking Service (NBS). Text messages are going out initially, followed by letters later in the week.

Appointments for second doses brought forward for over 50s

The NHS is contacting people in cohorts 1-9 that haven't already had a second dose to bring forward their second dose appointments from 12 to 8 weeks. This includes contacting people that booked through the NBS with texts and emails.

NHS England and NHS Improvement (NHSEI)  has published health system guidance on accelerating doses.

Share your COVID-19 status service

A new service allowing people to share their COVID-19 status is available via the NHS App and the NHS website. People must have an NHS login to access these services.

Those in England who have had a full course of the COVID-19 vaccine, which is currently two doses of any approved vaccine, will be able to demonstrate their COVID-19 vaccination status for international travel using this service or by calling 119 to request a letter.

If someone has had at least one vaccination dose, the service will create a QR code which securely holds their vaccination details in the Share your COVID-19  status on the NHS App. The expiry date shown relates to the QR code. The NHS App will automatically refresh with a new date. If you download a PDF you will need to request a new one with an updated QR code before travelling.

Anyone without a smartphone who needs to prove their COVID-19 status, can request a letter by calling 119.

People can also ring 119 if their travel is imminent and they believe their information is incorrect.

The Check your COVID-19 vaccine record service

The Check your COVID-19 vaccine record, available via the NHS App, allows people to view their vaccination details, like name and batch number and enables them to reports any side effects they may have experienced.
